Alvento Winery is a family-owned winery situated on a stunning 16-acre waterfront property in the Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellation of Niagara Peninsula, renowned for its beautiful old-world wines. Founded by Bruno and Elyane Moos, who are distinguished master winemakers with over 15 years of experience in growing and producing wines in Tuscany, Italy.
In 2001, the Moos moved to Vineland and began planting a vineyard. Their first vintage was in 2006, and they introduced Bordeaux blends named Elige, Nebbiolo named Aria, and Viognier named Vio. They also introduced some St Emilion-style blends known as Sondra and Emilie. Although the Moos have since retired, their 13.4-acre vineyard is now owned by Zhang's family, who are continuing the tradition of producing exceptional wines.
The primary grapes grown on the estate are Vidal, Baco Noir, and Marquette. Visitors can enjoy the newly renovated tasting room, which provides the perfect setting for sipping on a glass of wine and enjoying the picturesque scenery.
Danny Zhang, who graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor in 2014, is the General Manager of the winery. After starting his career in banking, he discovered his passion for photography and returned to his parent's peach farm in Jordan, Ontario, every summer to help with the peach harvest.
In 2018, his family made a significant decision to purchase the long-closed Alvento Winery, and since then, Danny has been actively involved in the winemaking process. He has discovered that winemaking provides him with a space to embrace his creative roots. Through the rebranding and revitalization of Alvento Winery, Danny hopes that the wines will inspire visitors in the same way they have inspired him. Apart from running the winery, Danny enjoys editing photos, creating short films, and exploring Niagara's local cuisine.
Visitors can expect to be treated to an immersive experience that highlights the beauty and uniqueness of the Niagara Peninsula's winemaking region. Come and enjoy the exquisite wines and stunning views while experiencing the history and charm of Alvento Winery.
